As part of the Czech National Strategy for Roma Integration, supported by the EEA and Norway Grants, the Museum of Roma Culture (Brno) will establish a new Centre for Roma and Sinti Culture in Prague. The Centre will open in 2022, and be a place for intercultural encounters, exhibitions, educational activities and more. EWC is a partner in the development of the Centre's educational activities, aiming to build more inclusive societies.
The establishment of the new Centre is part of a larger project, including the restauration of two national memorial sites; the World War II concentration camps for Roma people in Lety and Hodonín. The Falstad Centre (Norway) will also be a partner in the project, working on the reconstruction of the Lety memorial. The Project lasts until 2024.
4-5 February 2019, EWC and the Falstad Centre visited the Museum in Brno and the memorial sites to learn more about the Project, the Museum's current activities and to meet the staff. The study visit also included a visit to the premises of the new Centre.
We are looking forward to this new cooperation and some exciting years ahead!
